Project Momentum
A treatment project for war veterans who carry traumas back home
Project Momentum is designed to give war veterans with PTSD a safe, sound course of treatment: ketamine-assisted therapy and trauma follow-up.
The problem
Up to 15% are struggling after active duty
Norway has sent over 100,000 people to international operations since 1947. The Afghanistan study (2022) shows that up to 15 percent may have mental illnesses and problems after completing their service.
The problems often appear several years after returning home, and only three out of four who met the criteria for a mental illness actually seek help from the health service. Several also experience moral injury and guilt after service, issues that standard therapy does not always address well.

The people behind it
The team covers what a military and professional counterpart looks for: military credibility and access through Major General (ret.) John Steineger, clinical and pharmacological weight in Lowan Stewart, and trauma expertise anchored outside the clinic with Akiah Ottesen and Ivar Goksøyr.
