About the foundation
A private research foundation for psychedelic medicine in the Nordics
We conduct clinical research and education that brings documented treatments from the laboratory to the clinic, and makes them available to those who need them most.
Our mission
The foundation works on research, treatment and knowledge sharing
Responsible use of psychedelics requires more than clinical results alone.
Research projects
We contribute to the funding and delivery of clinical research on psychedelic-assisted therapy, with leading Nordic research groups as partners, and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
Treatment projects
We run treatment projects for patient groups where current options fall short, building the bridge between research and clinical practice.
Knowledge sharing
We organise and deliver training for health professionals, share our results openly, and make our expertise available where society needs it.
Our approach
Patience and action
Psychedelic-assisted therapy is a rapidly evolving field. We combine a scientific approach with a willingness to act. Those who need new treatment options the most cannot afford to wait.

Patients and patient organisations
We work with patient organisations and other groups representing people who need better treatment options.
Academic partners
We work with universities and research institutions to strengthen the evidence base for psychedelics and psychedelic-assisted treatment.
Philanthropy, foundations and funds
We fund our projects together with our philanthropic network and organisations that want to support our work.
Collaboration with Axonklinikken
Separate organisations that work closely together
Axon Research Foundation and Axonklinikken are separate legal entities that work closely together. The Foundation grew out of the clinical community at Axonklinikken, the largest clinical environment for ketamine-assisted psychotherapy in the Nordics, with more than 6,500 treatments since 2018.
The collaboration gives the Foundation access to clinical expertise and treatment capacity relevant to its purpose. Some board members have roles or ownership interests in the clinic, and the Foundation has established procedures for conflicts of interest and for agreements between the organisations.
Our values
How we work
Our values decide which projects we take on, who we work with, and what we turn down.
We work evidence-based
Our decisions rest on current research and documentation from leading experts. We have no political agenda, and we say no to assignments, partners and communication that would weaken the scientific basis of our work.
We have the courage to challenge
We dare to ask the uncomfortable questions and challenge established truths when the research warrants it. We take a public stand when the data supports it, even when it costs us.
We build bridges
We build bridges between academic communities, clinics and funders, and share knowledge openly with those who need it. Open publication is the standard, not the exception.
Scientific independence
How we keep the research free of other interests
Financial or commercial interests must not determine the scientific conclusions or prevent the publication of negative or null results.
- We publish our results, including negative and null findings.
- Board members with an interest in a matter do not take part in deciding it, and this is recorded in the minutes.
- Agreements between the Foundation and Axonklinikken are approved by the board.
