Hanne Kristine Haarset is a specialist in clinical psychology and an advisor to Project Momentum. She has more than 20 years of experience in adult clinical and organisational psychology, from both public and private healthcare, and specialises in trauma treatment.
Haarset was section head at Moss District Psychiatric Centre (DPS), where she led the treatment programme for veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder. She has argued publicly that clinicians who treat veterans need knowledge of the armed forces and of military service, because a lack of understanding undermines trust in treatment.
She is an accredited EMDR supervisor and trains therapists in the method. At the Norwegian Centre for Violence and Traumatic Stress Studies (NKVTS) she is affiliated with the Section for Implementation and Treatment Research, including the work to implement evidence-based trauma treatment in specialist mental health services.
Haarset runs her own practice, Human Factory, offering psychotherapy, EMDR treatment and supervision, as well as performance and leadership development for organisations. Her approach is eclectic: methods are chosen according to the problem and the treatment goal.
