David Erritzøe is Scientific Advisor to Axon Research Foundation. He is a psychiatrist and Clinical Associate Professor in Psychopharmacology and Psychiatry at the Department of Brain Sciences, Imperial College London, where he heads the Centre for Psychedelic Research. He is also Director of CIPPRes, the clinical psychopharmacology and psychedelic research unit run jointly by Imperial and Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust.

Erritzøe trained as a physician at the University of Copenhagen, where he also completed his PhD. He was a research fellow in molecular brain imaging at Columbia University, and is a specialist in general adult psychiatry in the UK.

His research focuses on how psychedelics, ketamine and MDMA act in the brain, and on clinical trials of these medicines in depression, OCD, anorexia nervosa, chronic pain and addiction. He combines clinical studies with brain imaging (PET and MRI) and supervises a group of around fifteen PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.

Erritzøe has published more than 150 scientific papers and is among the most cited researchers in the field. In 2025 he received Imperial College London's President's Award for Excellence in Research.
